| The trail runs right over the rocky outcropping. |
| First rocky scramble. |
| Yep. This way folks (when water is not flowing heavily). |
| Bring plenty of water. There is no tree cover on this hike. |
| Unbeknownst to me, I would be climbing over that peak. |
Do not attempt crossing when water is swiftly flowing. Beware of flash flooding during rainfall events. |
| Donation suggestion - I will definitely be donating! |
| Haven't gone very far . . . |
| Mileage marker - I did the loop in reverse, so I had only gone about .25 mile or so. |

| Males vying to mate with the female at the bottom of the pile! |
A bench at the peak overlooking Lake Barryessa. Plaque reads: LIFE WAS MADE FOR GOOD FRIENDS AND GREAT ADVENTURES. In memory of Jake Schneider 2001-2019. He and a friend died a tragic death trying to save a dog that jumped into a canal. |
Highly recommend their app - the map will show you exactly where you are on the trail, has a flower identification chart, and it's where I found out that chimney bees (aka turret bees) are harmless; and you can report any issues you may come across in the reserve. |
| Another peak to conquer. |
| More rocky trail. |
| This cutie shared it's space with me; just watched me as I took my egg break. |
| The trail is there . . . |
| Lots of lizards in this preserve. |
This trail will take you to the Annie's Trail Loop, which is an additional 2.75 miles, which was my original plan, but this hike was kicking my butt, and all that rock scrambling made for slow going, as it was, I didn't get back to the car until 4pm. |
| Creek crossing - it was just above ankle deep in spots. |
| Another donation box. |
