Pure Abandonment . . .

Well our abandoned buildings quest was a total bust. Cosson Hall on Treasure Island has been demolished, and the Bayshore Roundhouse in Brisbane was completely fenced off.  So we ended up strolling the Bay Bridge from IKEA (was not aware there was a parking lot two miles closer to the Bay Bridge trail!) to Yerba Buena Island.

So disappointed to find this has been demolished - (photo from thrillist.com) Click here to see the demolition in action.

Seen on the streets of Treasure Island.

Felt eerie just us and one other car on the Bay Bridge.

Our second attempt at an abandoned building, The Bayshore Roundhouse, which was not accessible.

 Only a glimpse.

Ohhhh, we so wanted to see this up close and personal. Click here for a story on the roundhouse.

However, we came across some interesting things along the way.

Nice sitting area at the Bay Bridge Trail parking lot overlooking the harbor.

Bummer it wasn't open.

Would love to know the history of this house.

Working on a new boardwalk and vista points using the old Bay Bridge piers. Click here to see the envision of the completed project.

Fun to watch tugs turn those behemoths around.

The Bay Bridge trail parking lot is located at 345 Burma Road, Oakland. Parking here rather than at IKEA will cut off about 4 miles round trip - and I'm sure IKEA will appreciate it as well.
