Contra Costa County
Hikers: Cathy, Laura, Noreen
Distance: 6.2 miles
We were here just two weeks ago and had to return to share this beautiful hike with Noreen. Amazing the amount of wildflowers that appeared in those two weeks.
Once again, the wildlife was seen on the drive up and not in the park - except for the occasional hawk and birds.
This hillside was absolutely gorgeous!
Tree bark.
The golden mushroom!
Look above the flower to see a "dragonfly" - etched in the rock.
The fog is rolling in!
Our beloved Diablo shrouded in fog.
An archway on the side of the road leading to an olive orchard.
Trails:
Coyote - Stone Corral - Volvon Loop - Volvan - Prairie Falcon - Condor
To reach the parking lot I recommend accessing Morgan Territory Road via the Livermore side rather
than from Clayton. MTR in Clayton turns into a one-lane road. Last time we were here, we were lucky
enough to get an early start and only came across one other car from the
opposite direction and had just passed a turnout in the road and only had to
backup a short distance to the turnout to allow the other car to pass.
Livermore side also is a one lane road, but for a shorter distance and has a
bit more room.
